skin of the earth

Nancy Stedman

These images continue my exploration of the land we live on, and the ways in which our use of the land is influenced by the underlying geology and soils.  I remain fascinated by aerial views of the landscape, which enable us to see causes and connection, and the range of marks we leave upon the land.  I am also so aware of how thin, globally speaking, is the layer of fertile soil that we rely upon for our sustenance - the skin of the Earth.
